Symbols of Change

Truly beautiful.

The other day my husband came across a monarch butterfly lying, tucked away in the corner of our garage — perfectly preserved, its wings vibrant and whole. To some, it might have been just another small detail in the day, a ‘neat’ discovery. But to me, it felt like a little wink from the universe.

I’ve taken my daughter on many butterfly hunts this summer. One of my neighbors has a flowering bush that literally is swamped with butterflies- mainly swallowtails- that we have visited frequently, but not until this guy showed up in my garage, had I seen a monarch. So I was immediately intrigued about the symbolism and saw this as a positive nudge from the universe.

I’ve always believed in noticing the little signs around me. They help me stay grounded in gratitude & help me to believe that the universe has my back. I just knew this monarch would be rich in symbolism so I had to learn more. Turns out, these butterflies represent transformation, the beauty of growth through change, and endurance. They also have incredible instincts, which is evidenced by their generational migration. Seeing this monarch reminded me that wherever the mind chooses to focus, that is what multiplies. And so, I choose to focus on  possibility, on transformation, and on the vision of my future self, knowing that like the monarch, each season of life brings its own purpose and renewal. Sometimes, we just need to look closely enough to see the reminders that we’re on the right path.
